E-tourist Visa (eTV) visa must be obtained prior to travel to India.

Travellers whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation,
sight seeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, short
duration medical treatment or casual business visit. This is a single
entry visa which is valid for 30 days from the date of arrival and
can only be issued twice in a year. E-tourist Visa (eTV) visa must be
obtained prior to travel to India. Once submitted the e-Visa (eTV)
approval document is obtained electronically and emailed to you. With
the India e-Visa service, there is no need of submission of original
passport, any other original documents.
e-Tourist Visa allows arrival at the following 16 airports :
Ahmedabad,
Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Hyderabad,
Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum &
Varanasi.

(eTV) Visa processing time may vary, subject incorrect information
which is at the discretion of visa officer. In case of rejection, you
may need to apply for the regular tourist visa. On arrival the Right
of entry will only be allowed following, Biometric, fingerprint,
details of the applicant which are taken at Immigration.
